Located in trendy Clerkenwell, close to Sadler’s Wells Theatre and just a few minutes walk from Angel tube station is Miz en Bouche, a modern French bistro with a welcoming feel. A great place to catch up with friends, enjoy a romantic meal or hire for a private party, or even enjoy a glass of French wine on the private patio – the Miz en Bouche team will welcome you and make you feel at home.

Opened three years ago by a team of three – Pedro, Maya and Jean Michel – the relaxed restaurant has a reputation among locals and boasts a crowd of regular customers – a good sign for any restaurant.   Pedro and Jean Michel have a mixed background in hospitality – working together in some of London’s top restaurants, and they also share a French heritage, with Pedro French-Brazilian and Jean Michel French-Caribbean. Each of the team bring something different, with Maya headi
ng up the interiors and events, while Jean Michel is the host.  The face of Miz en Bouche, Jean-Michel’s charm and charisma has been known to have customers following him from previous restaurants he’s worked at.

Miz en Bouche has a true neighbourhood feel – the team are proud to provide a friendly atmosphere and a personal service.  The food is classic French with a twist: steak tartare is a favourite, and bavette steak with Portobello mushroom and fries is very popular.  Seared tuna Nicoise is a fresh option, and the rack of lamb with ratatouille and tarragon is just as highly recommended.  It’s not all French, the Miz en Bouche burger with cheese and mustard mayo proves popular among guests.

Lighter options are available and feature a spring avocado salad, as well as fresh seafood – Pedro gets up early and visits Billingsgate Market in East London’s docklands before work each week. That’s dedication!  With this in mind, the baked mussels & king scallops are definitely worth a try.

Desserts are not forgotten about, with both choc fondant & crème brulee near-famous in the area.

An ever-popular all-day brunch menu is served daily from 10.30am until 4pm, just perfect to stumble in to for a lazy weekend meal.  Here you will find classic French croquet monsieur, madame and mademoiselle alongside staple favourites eggs benedict and Florentine, as well as buttermilk pancakes with berries and crème fraiche.
